Sticking to any exercise regimen can be stressful. Â For me, running is such a head game. Â If I think too much about it, I worry – stressing about the very activity that is supposed to relieve tension and anxiety. Â Â In addition to working through my own mindset, I struggle to schedule my workouts and stick to the time allotted. Â Once I’ve built up the confidence and/or stuck to my gameplan, I am known to furiously search my house for my headphones or running shoes.
So this article from Runner’s World really helps – if anything, it reminds me I am not alone in my anxiety, disorganization and general struggle to make time for running. Â In this piece, How to Keep Your Run Simple, readers share their techniques to staying calm and simplifying their workouts.
My favorite tip comes from Shawn Cooper: “One rule – run. Just one foot in front of the other, at any pace I feel like running at the moment, and coming home when I feel I’m done.”
How much more simple (and enjoyable) could it get?

Thanks for encouraging me to get my shoes out again. I’ve also enjoyed these running technique videos from Chi Running. http://www.youtube.com/user/chilivinginc
They make me much for aware of what I’m doing so that I can do it longer, stronger, and more efficiently. Best of luck with hitting the pavement and simply running.
Thanks Donna- I will check that out!
