Be Well, Be Happy

happyfamily_xsmallMoms are amazing.  From the moment her first child is placed in her arms, a mother has a tremendous responsibility for that baby’s well-being.  In the early weeks and years, this includes basic needs such as food, shelter, warmth, comfort, health and wellness.  A baby will cry to communicate these needs.  Before long, once verbal communication has begun and the child starts to learn some independence, the needs shift to the emotional kind.   Moms are forever tuned in to their child’s degree of happiness.

But, what about Mom?  What if Mom needs some reassurance, just as her child would in a moment of self-doubt or anxiety?  All moms need someone to lean on from time to time.  I know for certain how lonely moms can be, especially those at home with children even part-time.

When Mom is happy, the family is happy.  I believe that wholeheartedly, because I’ve lived it!   It’s not always easy to recognize our own feelings, because we are so consumed with taking care of our family’s needs.  Let this blog be a reminder to take care of yourself and lean on others for support and advice, in order to be a better mom.
