Attention Seacoast area Moms! I’m happy to announce The PranaMama will be hosting a nutritional seminar series in March. Tracey Miller, of Tracey Miller Wellness, will provide four 90-minute seminars for group discussion and education. Come to learn, share ideas and questions, and meet other wellness-minded Moms.
“Be
Well” Mom’s Nutrition Seminars (Group Classes)
Are you confused about what to feed your children? Do you want to eat healthier, but don’t want to spend more money?
Learn how to create a “family diet” to keep your children’s immune system strong and build their resistance to disease. In a series of seminars you will build up your own “family guide” to healthy cooking with menu planners, recipes and the knowledge to prepare meals that are nutrient dense and flavorful.
Week 1: Finding the right “diet” for your family: The standard American diet (SAD) is making us sick. Find out why what you grew up eating, is not what your kids should be eating. You’ll learn what to eliminate from your diet (super junk foods) and what to add (super nutritious foods). We’ll also start out with menu planning tips – your ticket to reduce stress, save time and add more variety to your meals. You’ll leave with a menu planner, menu plans and lots of healthy recipes.
Week 2: How food affects digestion and how digestion impacts your health: Your gut is considered your second brain, and also plays a critical part of your immune system. Find out which foods help improve your digestion and which foods harm it. We’ll also talk about how to prepare foods to make them easier to digest and more nutrient dense.
Week 3: Sugar Blues: Do realize that the average person consumes nearly 160 pounds of sugar per year and that nearly 13,000 children are diagnosed with diabetes each year? Find out how too much sugar affects your blood sugar levels which can affect your mood, energy levels and even brain power. I’ll also give you the “skinny” on the importance of fats and why they sometimes get a bad rap.
Week 4: Spring Cleansing: Come March your body will be begging for a spring cleaning after a long winter of heavy foods. This session will show you how to gently cleanse your body, and your children’s and without starving yourself. We’ll talk about the benefits of seasonal eating, spring greens, tonics and other super foods.
